LA Baroque Players

Organized in the spring of 1983, the group is recognized as an important early music ensemble. All share a common interest in bringing to audiences definitive performances of early music.
Their musical style, elegance, warmth, vigor, transparency of sound, variety of musical color and technical command all add up to programs that captivate audiences.
Their stylish authority and spirited musicality is creating new audiences for ensembles using authentic instruments and adding new respect to the demanding literature of the Baroque.
The Los Angeles Baroque Players perform on period instruments or replicas of instruments used in the 17th and 18th centuries. The effects produced are subtler, less harsh than those created by modern instruments. The one keyed transverse flute is crafted of wood, the violin is strung with gut strings and is played with a baroque bow, the baroque cellos also strung with gut strings and is played with a baroque bow as well. The harpsichords they use are based on historical prototypes by makers Roberts & Brazier of the Harpsichord Center.

This concert is made possible by a grant
from THE HENNINGS-FISCHER FOUNDATION.

The Edendale Library Friends Society will provide refreshments following the concert.
