Annelle K. Gregory - Bio


Annelle Kazumi Gregory is a Laureate of the 2013 Stradivarius International Violin Competition and the 2016 National Sphinx Competition as well as 1st prize winner of the 2016 American Protégé International Concerto Competition, the 2015 Beverly Hills National Auditions, and Gold Medalist of the 2012 National NAACP ACT-SO competition. In 2010, as part of a national tour, she performed at Carnegie Hall as a 1st violinist of the Sphinx Virtuosi and recorded with the ensemble on their debut album. In 2014, Gregory released a CD with pianist Alexander Sinchuk, “Annelle K. Gregory & Alexander Sinchuk: Grieg, Mozart, Szymanowski” and in 2015 recorded with organist Carol Williams on her CD, "Just Carol - Compositions."
            Gregory has won 1st place in many competitions including the 2014-16 Musical Merit Competitions, 2016 Classics Alive Young Artist Auditions, 2013 La Jolla Symphony Young Artists Competition, 2013 San Diego Symphony Young Artists Competition, 2013 Grossmont Community Concert Association Competition, 2012 Long Beach Mozart Festival Concerto Competition, 2012 Jester Hairston Competition, 2012 NANM Georgia Laster Branch Competition, 2012 Bellflower Symphony Concerto Competition, and 2011 Torrance Symphony Concerto Competition, as well as the competitions of the ASTA, MTAC, and MTAC-VOCE organizations. She was awarded the 2014 Glenn Dicterow Music Scholarship, has received scholarships from the League of Allied Arts and the Musical Merit Foundation, and has been supported in part by a Sphinx MPower Artist grant.
From 2012-2015, Gregory was concertmaster and a featured soloist for the California International Music Festival Orchestra at Namedy and Weikersheim Castles, Germany. She has performed with the symphonies of Detroit, La Jolla, San Diego, Chicago Sinfonietta, California Chamber Orchestra, Torrance, Bellflower, and the Long Beach Mozart Festival, among others. She was a featured soloist in the 2016 iPalpiti Festival of International Laureates and served as Asst. Concertmaster for the 2013 World Youth Chamber Orchestra tour and also in 2013 opened for the Moscow Ballet, performing a solo with the principal ballerina. Gregory has performed at numerous venues abroad in Russia, Germany (Engers, Weikersheim, & Namedy Castles), and Portugal, as well as throughout the United States (Carnegie Hall , Walt Disney Hall, The Ravinia). Gregory has been featured on BBC Radio, American Public Media radio, KUSC radio, German Television, Detroit Public Television, and XLNC1 radio.

  

Georgy Gusev – Bio

After receiving a Master’s degree in Cello Performance from the Moscow State Conservatory in Russia, Georgy Gusev moved to Italy to study with Sicilian virtuoso Giovanni Sollima at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia where he earned the diploma “Master of Cello.”  As soloist he has performed with orchestras and various ensembles in the best classical and modern halls of Russia, Italy, France, Austria, Switzerland, China, and the US.  He has participated in various international festivals alongside many world-renowned classical musicians such as Natalia Gutman, Giovanni Sollima, Enrico Dindo, Eliso Virsaladze, Rocco Filippini, Monika Leskovar, Sonig Tchakerian, Boris Andrianov, and Alexander Bouzlov. 

Gusev also works as a composer and among his recent projects, he released a series of compositions for cello solo calledThe Traveler’s Diary (originally Breviario per Nomadi) that has been used as a background for various TV shows by the Italian national television RAI and several films. His first solo album Cello Drive, which includes Gusev’s innovative compositions as well as completely revised arrangements of national melodies and songs, was sponsored by Thomastik-Infeld and was released by the UK label North2North in June 2016.

Gusev has taught for over two years as a docent at the Accademia Musicale Praeneste in Rome and has held master classes of modern approach to classical music in Zagarolo (2013-15), Rome (2014-15), and Moscow (2014-15).  He also holds a private studio of both cello and piano.  Besides performing and teaching, Gusev is actively involved in promoting cultural exchange between Russian and Italian musicians.  As such, he frequently organizes Italo-Russian master classes in Rome and Moscow and in 2013 founded the International Music Festival “Masters of Music” held annually in Moscow.
